HODINKEE Revives El Primero G381 Timepiece for Zenith's 50th Anniversary
Featuring gold detailing and a “panda” face, just like the original.
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Swiss watch brand Zenith has teamed up with HODINKEE to release the El Primero Revival G381. The new model is a familiar face to Zenith collectors, as it is a direct revival of the brand’s cult favorite automatic high-speed chronograph, the G381.
Originally arriving along with some of the earliest models in Zenith’s El Primero range back in 1969, the G381 set itself apart from relatives like the A386 with its luxurious gold detailing and contrasting “panda” face. Fewer than 700 G381s were produced when the watch first launched in 1969 and it’ll now see an even more limited release, with only 50 pieces available worldwide.

The El Primero Revival G381 maintains the original G381’s key design facets, including 18k yellow gold accents and smaller crown. Housing a Zenith caliber 400 El Primero chronograph movement, the revival edition updates the beloved classic with contemporary construction.
