London Grime Beatsmith Faze Miyake Drops New Track "Eyes On Me"
The prolific grime producer takes a swing at MCing.
Three years ago artist-producer Faze Miyake dropped his eponymous film that reeled through a series of psychedelic graphics to accompany his grime beats. Based in London, Miyake has built a name for himself through working with a number of artists as a prolific beatsmith. Miyake’s latest project comes in the form of a new track titled “Eyes On Me” where he takes a swing at MCing on top of the instrumental he’s produced alongside Jay Youngs.
Measuring just over three minutes, the track is doused in a stripped back trap-tinged beat, kicked off with a catchy hook. Sharp hi-hats, mellowed out synths, crisp snares and drums are masterfully weaved together for a murky mid-tempo groove. Notable lyrics like “All these eyes on me / I’ve been working quietly / I gotta get in rightfully / If it ever went down would you ride for me?” and “Got a little shine like PVC / Cos I had vision like a TV screen” are delivered through melodic autotuned vocals that demonstrate Miyake’s multi-faceted approach to constructing a song.
