Although the Emma Stone starring Cruella project has been pushed back by Disney, anticipating fans have been given a first look at Stone portraying the 101 Dalmatians antagonist.

Shared via Disney’s social media accounts, Stone is sporting a punk rock look with smokey makeup and Cruella’s signature black and white hairstyle, to match with the canine’s fur. Instead of Cruella’s Dalmatian fur coats, as seen in the 1961 cartoon and the 1996 film starring Glenn Close, Stone is rocking a head-to-toe leather ensemble. Additionally, the actor is holding onto three Dalmatians on chains.

During Disney’s D23 Expo reveal of the photos, Stone phoned in citing, “I’m here on our first day of shooting Cruella,” she said. “It’s 1970 and set in London, and it’s punk rock.”

Along with Stone, the film will also star Emma Thompson, Paul Walter Hauser and Joel Fry. The live-action remake will hit theaters on May 28, 2021, pushed back from its original Christmas 2020 date.

Cruella is just the latest live-action film to be released by Disney. This year alone the studio has dropped Dumbo, The Lion King, and Aladdin. Disney fans can also expect Mulan and The Little Mermaid to arrive soon.

In more entertainment news, Jamie Foxx is Pixar’s first black lead in Soul.
