Naked & Famous x 'Dragon Ball Z' Denim Capsule Receives Release Date

First seen in July, Naked & Famous has now offered a closer look at its forthcoming Dragon Ball Z collaboration. Encompassing jackets and jeans crafted from Japanese selvedge denim, each special set is inspired by a different Super Saiyan.

Goku, Trunks, Vegeta and Cell (technically not a Super Saiyan) each inspire a set of jeans, crafted to Naked & Famous’ usual standard of quality and executed in the Canadian brand’s unique cuts. Notably, the Goku- and Trunks-inspired sets include a matching denim jacket, sporting identical selvedge detailing and signifiers, like copper Dragon Ball buttons and the Go kanji character taken from Goku’s signature post-gravity training outfit. The familiar imagery isn’t the only thoughtful touch that informs the goods, as all four characters’ garments are custom-made to recall each distinctive personality.

For instance, Vegeta’s yellow-toned, rigid “Super Saiyan Selvedge” jeans weigh in at a hefty 16oz, meaning that one requires Vegeta’s uncompromising outlook in order to break them in. Meanwhile, Goku’s goods utilize a bespoke 12.5oz slubby stretch selvedge to represent Goku’s unflappable attitude, complete with an orange weft to recall his gi.

Elsewhere, Perfect Cell’s “Perfect Selvedge” is similarly stretchy, with an exaggerated slubbiness in line with Cell’s spotted skin tone, with a green weft to match. Finally, Trunks’ “Future Selvedge” is a slow-loomed, heavyweight 18oz denim inspired by the pants that Trunks himself wears. To complete the collection, each character is realized upon the leather patch on the waist and emblazoned inside the jeans on the back pocket bag, with all the items.

Naked & Famous’ stockists will begin to launch the Dragon Ball Z collaboration on September 11.
