First 'Bombshell' Trailer With Margot Robbie, Charlize Theron & Nicole Kidman Will Have You on Edge
Surrounding the harassment claims against the late Fox News founder Roger Ailes.
Lionsgate has dropped off the first trailer for Bombshell, the upcoming drama flick surrounding the sexual harassment claims against the late Fox News founder Roger Ailes.
While the short preview doesn’t reveal much, it shows Margot Robbie as fictional associate producer Kayla Pospisil getting into a tense elevator ride with Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman, who play former Fox News anchors Megyn Kelly and Gretchen Carlson respectively — two women who both accused Ailes of sexual advances. John Lithgow of Dexter and The Crown fame joins the cast Ailes, along with Kate McKinnon, Mark Duplass and Rob Delaney.
Allegations against Ailes first appeared in 2014, after author Gabriel Sherman detailed an anonymous television producer’s story. In The Loudest Voice in the Room: How the Brilliant, Bombastic Roger Ailes Built Fox News – and Divided a Country, the producer claimed that in the 1980s, Ailes offered her a rise if she slept with him. Carlson filed her sexual harassment lawsuit against Ailes in 2016, asserting that she was fired from her daytime program due to her rejection of his sexual advances. Kelly confirmed a similar experience against Ailes shortly after, prompting the disgraced network founder to resign in July 2016. He passed in May 2017 from a subdural hematoma.
