Sugarhill Tweaks Old American Silhouettes With Unconventional Cuts for FW19
Dubbed “Black and Blue.”

Sugarhill has released its Fall/Winter 2019 lookbook. Following up from its previous SS19 collection, the label introduces another round of streetwear staples inspired by traditional American workwear through a distincely contemporary lens.
Captured behind an old unkempt factory mill, the Tokyo-based label presents an expansive array of unconventional cuts reworked from familiar silhouettes. Dubbed “Black and Blue,” FW19 includes a series of billowing long coats, khaki overalls, fur-lined jackets, satin coach jackets, trenches and parkas that appear next to raw denim, distressed sweaters and wide military pants. Tones of indigo, faded olives, black, white, dusty khaki, red and brown were the primary colors that have been incorporated into the season’s range.
One standout piece is an oversized trench coat steeped in a vivid red palette. The piece honors all the garment details of a traditional trench coat with an unconventional twist, offering exaggerated lapels, a wide back yoke and drooping epaulets. Contrasting black buttons, deep front pockets and a short waist belt also come with the piece.
Another highlight includes the black leather biker jacket that has been meticulously distressed and treated for a luxe lived-in feel. Complete with wide flaps, silver-toned hardware and elongated leather tassels that hang from the zippers, the piece sees a slight crop at the waist that recalls a vintage fit. Other pieces like the all-over-patterned hooded parka, damaged hoodies, and embroidered satin jackets display an appreciation for American staples that have been tweaked for modern times.
Though no official release dates have been disclosed, fans can expect Sugarhill’s FW19 collection to drop soon over at retailers like openingceremony.com.
