LEGO Builds Life-Size Astronaut to Celebrate Apollo 11
Towering at 6-foot, 3-inches tall.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, LEGO has created a life-sized astronaut sporting the same spacesuit worn during the July 16, 1969 moon mission.
Towering at 6-foot, 3-inches, the LEGO-designed statue also includes a reflection of the moon in the helmet, American flag patch on the arm, gloves, boots and various tools used during the expedition. Crafted from 30,000 LEGO bricks in 10 different colors, it took almost 300 hours to complete the designing and building process of this figure.
The stature will be on display at the National Air and Space Museum’s Apollo 50 Festival being held in Washington, DC starting this Thursday, July 18 and running until Saturday, July 20.
To aid in the celebrations, drones will light up the night sky For N.A.S.A.’s Apollo 11 50th anniversary.
LEGO also recently immortalized Harley-Davidson’s Fat Boy motorcycle.
