Japanese label KUON delivers a sophisticated spread for Fall/Winter 2019, demonstrating a consistent evolution beyond its denim-centric roots. Slouchy suits and repurposed militaria find common ground with elements of Japanese heritage, with plenty of indigo-soaked layers to add saturated color to the proceedings.
In line with the label’s past offerings, KUON continues to tweak elements of denim culture into more street-friendly silhouettes, straying from conventional denim-head garments in favor of a more progressive collection. Collarless jackets, work shirts, chore jackets and leather-sleeved varsity jackets are remixed with elements of traditional craft, including sakiori (rug-woven fabrics), aizome (Japanese indigo) dye, patchwork and intricate sashiko stitching. Military-inspired items, like bomber jackets and cargo pants, also receive a textural upgrade by way of hard-wearing construction and intricate detailing, like premium zippers and elastic ribbing that keeps its shape.
Expect KUON’s latest to hit the brand’s stockists later this year.
