James Jarvis Unveils Massive Spray-Can Paintings in "Throw-Ups" Exhibit
Also debuting a new bronze sculpture for the presentation at NANZUKA Tokyo.

Tokyo’s NANZUKA gallery will soon host a solo exhibition spotlighting new original artworks by acclaimed London-based artist, James Jarvis. Entitled “Throw-Ups,” the forthcoming presentation will display a selection of drawings, spray-painted wooden reliefs, acrylic panel pieces, and a never-before-seen bronze sculptural work. Jarvis injects his signature character across various compositions that are executed in black and white with graffiti-style motifs prevalent in most of the two-dimensional pieces.
“I see drawing more as a means of understanding the world than as an aesthetic construction for transcribing or recording an image. I am interested in the way that the process of making a drawing about something is a way of decoding and understanding that thing,” said Jarvis to NANZUKA.
