DJ Shadow Returns With "Rocket Fuel" Featuring De La Soul
His first release since 2017.
DJ Shadow has surfaced with his first new music in two years, enlisting hip-hop trio De La Soul to join him for the single, “Rocket Fuel.” The track follows behind his 2017 EP, The Mountain Has Fallen, and will be a part of his upcoming album that is expected to release later this year.
“It’s been awhile since my last album The Mountain Will Fall, and the corresponding tour…and since the tour ended, I’ve been mostly silent,” DJ Shadow explained in a statement.
“This is because I’ve been focused and working on a ton of music. I usually try to avoid hyperbole, and I’m not super-comfortable hyping up my own stuff, but things are about to get pretty exciting. My heroes De La Soul were kind enough to join me on the debut single, ‘Rocket Fuel,’ and the collab encapsulates so much of what I love about hip-hop… energy, beats, and fun.”

De La Soul’s Posdnous previously collaborated with DJ Shadow on the producer’s 2011 album, The Less You Know, the Better. The group itself recently made waves in the footwear world when a pair of unreleased De La Soul x Nike SB Dunk Lows surfaced on social media last month.
