New 'Gemini Man' Featurette Sees the Creation of a CGI Will Smith
Young Will is a complete digital creation.
Paramount Pictures has released a featurette of its upcoming film Gemini Man, which sees Will Smith as an assassin battling a younger version of himself. The video above showcases the VFX that went into turning the 50-year-old superstar 23 again, and it also clarifies that his counterpart is a completely digital creation.
VFX Supervisor Bill Westenhofer states “This is not de-aging. This is not face-replacement. What you see for Junior is a completely digital creation 100% driven by Will Smith’s performance.” Director Ang Lee says the story of a man chasing himself is a compelling story, and “thanks to the technology now it’s possible.”
