DAIRIKU FW19 Explores the "American Dream" in Latest Lookbook

Tokyo’s DAIRIKU is back with another youthful collection lookbook for Fall/Winter 2019. Rifting off the brand’s fondness for Americana, and the carefree energy associated with growing up in North America as a teenager, this newest collection focuses in on the designer’s interpretation of the “American Dream.”
Photographed in both the urban outdoors and in a hotel room with ’90s-era furnishings, each of the looks show an assemblage of dark purples, reds, browns and blues strewn across the large silhouettes that DAIRIKU is known for. Outerwear comes in the form of nylon jackets, faux-fur coats, and a number of denim jackets in various colors. There is also a clear divide on a few outfits, as a clear nod towards New York’s ’70s-era disco scene can be seen in the billowy white and brown pants, velour shirts, and satin button-ups.
Key pieces include inside-out sweaters with a frayed American flag motif, the “American Dream” jersey shirt, a Navy sweater that blends the American flag with a retro Microsoft Windows logo, and a number pieces with an “END ROLL” graphic at the front — a reference towards the end credits copyright info seen in Hollywood movies.
