Asics Refreshes Its GEL-KAYANO 5 OG in a Bright "Midnight/White"

Asics keeps the retro sneaker drops coming with a reissue of the GEL-KAYANO 5 OG in “Midnight/White.” Adapted from the original 1999 silhouette, this rendition of the footwear staple has been tweaked with a slight reduction in weight and new summer-friendly hues.

With panels of orange, purple, teal and white, the sneakers are constructed in a bevy of textiles like mesh, embossed grain leather and suede. Vivid orange highlights appear over the inner cushions, peering out at the tip of the collar. The palette is repeated over bold piping at the top of the tongue, framing the Asics logo, and along the side stripes, which are complemented with purple accents. A dark “Midnight” tongue is cast against a white lace cage, while pops of teal show up at the heel, toe cap and midsole. All these details are placed atop a sturdy two-toned GEL sole unit that’s reinforced with DUOMAX cushioning technology.
