Despite June’s arrival, New York has enjoyed a mixture of warm and mild weather, making the arrival of New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020 especially pleasant. A comfortable breeze welcomed NYC’s fashion insiders to Monday’s events, prompting attendees to show off their finest lightweight layers, mixing bold color with striking patterns.

Alongside statement pieces like Dior‘s Saddle bag and Sacai’s collaborative Nike LDWaffle runners, attendees mixed a variety of dramatic goods together with unified styling. Tie-dyed denim met illustrative hoodies, green stripes abetted solid red accents and Bode‘s stunning patchwork outerwear offers several clashing patterns in and of itself.

Indeed, the excesses of logomania may be gone, but the dramatic mixing of prints and patterns continues, as many guests demonstrated. adidas track jackets were wantonly juxtaposed against Louis Vuitton‘s Wizard of Oz pants and plaid bondage pants singlehandedly gave life to a punk-indebted ensemble. Accessories from luxury standbys like Gucci emboldened understated looks, with other attendees preferring standout stripes and other all-over patterns instead of muted monochrome.

Elsewhere, classic menswear was undermined by blindingly white Birkenstocks and Junya Watanabe’s tactical vests lent a functional edge to simple hot weather styling. AWAKE NY‘s Angelo Baque and Bergdorf Goodman’s Bruce Pask took to the streets with effortless layers, while other attendees battled the heat in knee-length coats. Tiny sunglasses and shoulderbags remain en vogue, bolstered by utility-indebted goods ranging from overalls and outdoorsy headwear to cargo pants and shawl-collared tech jackets.

Check out the diverse impressions above and relive the event’s Spring/Summer 2020 N.HOOLYWOOD runway show.
