Continuing their unexpected collaborative relationship, Mobile Suit Gundam and Chinese footwear label 361° have come together once again on a set of basketball sneakers based on the anime series’ famed mechas.
This time around, the colors of Amuro Ray’s iconic RX-78-2 are applied on a bootie-like silhouette dominated by white technical mesh upper accented by suede, leather and TPU overlays. Hits of blue, red, yellow and black are applied to the ankle, toe, heel and vamp. Elevating the shoe is a matching rounded sole unit marked by a blue pivot point and Mobile Suit Gundam branded counter.
The accompanying MS-06 Zaku II-inspired sneaker features a more technical look with a slip-on design assisted by a zip-closure and two secure strap fastenings. The upper of the shoe is constructed of purple mesh paired with red nubuck and heat welded overlays at the toe and heel. Moving lower, a sculpted red speckled sole unit with black rubber segments rounds up the design of the shoe.
Priced at ¥439 and ¥469 RMB (approximately $63 and $68 USD), the Mobile Suit Gundam MS-06 Zaku II and RX-78-2-inspired basketball sneakers are available now on 361°’s webstore.
