Get Lost in a Hazy Reverie With Los Retros' Debut EP 'Retrospect'
Accompanied by a short visual detailing the 19-year-old’s artistry.
Stones Throw Records neophyte Los Retros has dropped his debut EP, Retrospect. The 19-year-old multi-instrumentalist, born Mauri Tapia, thrives at his most vulnerable as he offers six open-hearted songs composed of honest lyricism and dreamy melodies. Inspired by his roots as a first-generation Mexican-American in Oxnard, California, Retros credits American AOR from the ’70s and ’80s, soft-rock crooners, and leftfield pop from Central and South America as the basis of his woozily romantic sound. Although fresh out of high school, the young artist makes an impressive entrance into the scene and leaves us wondering how much further he can go.
