Thom Yorke Reveals Plans for New Solo Album & Short Film, 'ANIMA'
The follow-up to 2014’s ‘Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes’ LP is almost here.
Less than two months after sharing two new records known as “Gawpers” and “Don’t Fear the Light,” Thom Yorke is revealing plans for his next studio album as a solo artist. His first full-length solo project in five years, ANIMA will serve as the follow-up to 2014’s Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes and is scheduled to see release on June 27. The Radiohead frontman’s upcoming LP is made up of nine new tracks, with the vinyl version containing an additional cut known as “(Ladies & Gentlemen, Thank You for Coming).” Yorke is credited with writing every part of ANIMA, although his close collaborator Nigel Godrich handled its production duties.
Thom Yorke has also teamed up with director Paul Thomas Anderson to create a “one-reeler” short film to accompany ANIMA‘s arrival. Also titled ANIMA, the one-reeler will land on Netflix on the same day — Friday, June 27 — that streaming services are scheduled to receive the ANIMA album. Yorke and Anderson’s ANIMA film also features three songs from the musical project.
You can take a look at the lead trailer for the ANIMA one-reeler above, while the tracklist for Thom Yorke’s forthcoming solo album can be viewed below. Pre-orders of physical and digital copies of ANIMA are currently available via multiple platforms and outlets; the latter versions are set to hit streaming services next Friday, June 27 and the physical editions have been given a release date of July 19.
