KAPITAL has enjoyed a burgeoning renaissance of sorts, receiving renewed interest due to archival collectors and new fans drawn in by items like the Japanese brand’s standout layering pieces. Now, the long-running label is making its American debut by rejoining New York retailer 180 the Store, complete with one-off goods.
Though KAPITAL has worked with stockists across North America, the imprint has yet to take its own wares stateside. That all changes with this residency, which sees KAPITAL introducing an array of John Mayer-approved items at the Tribeca-based boutique. Reversible kimono jackets, printed tees and bespoke denim from KAPITAL’s hand-worked Kountry sub-label will all be on hand, as well as several specialized accessories. This includes an array of KAPITAL’s beloved bandanas, rich with playful patterns, distorted smiley faces and angry felines.
The residency begins on June 18. Though 180 the Store does have a web shop, expect the exclusive KAPITAL offerings to only be available in-store, though select items — like the “MOTHER FUCKING PISSED OFF” bandana — are also offered on KAPITAL’s web store.
Elsewhere, we took a look at KAPITAL’s striking SS19 “Navajoland” Hawaiian shirt.
