John Mayer Breaks Down His Personal Style & His Obsession With visvim
Talking about how he discovered Hiroki Nakamura’s brand.
In a new video with GQ, acclaimed musician John Mayer broke down his obsession with visvim while walking viewers through his personal style.
Kicking things off, Mayer explains how he defines his style, saying, “My style is about the balance between these highly differentiating, novel, interesting, far out things, and working it into kind of a daily wear situation.”
Moving on, Mayer reveals he discovered visvim back in 2005 after being recommended by a friend of a friend during a getaway to Japan. The thing he admires about Hiroki Nakamura‘s designs is everything he makes has “one differentiating element.” The label’s robe-like pieces have become a staple for him, as he has become fond of how they do not fit “spiritually when you put it in the description of a jacket or shirt.”
Throughout the video, we get a glimpse of Mayer’s extensive visvim collection and items from Goro’s, KAPITAL, Fear of God, ACRONYM and more.
