Gerard Butler Seeks Revenge in Second ‘Angel Has Fallen’ Trailer
Morgan Freeman takes on presidential duties.
A new trailer for Ric Roman Waugh’s action-thriller Angel Has Fallen was released earlier today and it features new clips of Gerard Butler portraying Secret Service Agent Mike Banning.
Acting as a sequel to 2013’s Olympus Has Fallen, which first introduced Banning to audiences, and 2016’s London Has Fallen, the latest film in the franchise will see a framed Banning trying to save the President’s life. Morgan Freeman will take on the role of the leader of the Free World, stepping in for Aaron Eckhart who played the part in the first two films.
The official synopsis reads:
“When there is an assassination attempt on U.S. President Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman), his trusted confidant, Secret Service Agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler), is wrongfully accused and taken into custody. After escaping from capture, he becomes a man on the run and must evade his own agency and outsmart the FBI in order to find the real threat to the President. Desperate to uncover the truth, Banning turns to unlikely allies to help clear his name, keep his family from harm and save the country from imminent danger.”
Angel Has Fallen also stars Jada Pinkett Smith, Lance Reddick, Tim Blake Nelson, Piper Perabo, Nick Nolte, and Danny Huston and lands in theaters on August 21.
The film is sure to be a box office hit considering Olympus Has Fallen earned a hefty $170 million USD while London Has Fallen earned $205 million USD worldwide, respectively.
