A Closer Look at UNDERCOVER's Futuristic Nike Daybreak Collaboration
Detailed shots of the alien kicks.

After the duo properly introduced their first mainline collaboration, we take a closer look at Nike and UNDERCOVER‘s collaborative Daybreak sneakers. Though seven colorways will launch over the course of the summer, we get up close with two of the more retro-indebted makeups.
Debuted during the label’s Spring/Summer 2019 showcase in Paris, the angular runners bear UNDERCOVER branding on the midsole along with the Japanese brand’s “U” logo on the heel, though the real intrigue comes by way of the utterly unique heel panels. Sporting sharp lines that extend far beyond the sneaker’s nylon upper and three-dimensional heel tag, the rubber sculpts create a dramatic, alien-like silhouette that simultaneously complements and interrupts the Daybreak’s naturally streamlined shape.
Elsewhere, premium materials ensure that the shoe feels as special as it looks, with lush suede accenting the rear, toe and tongue panels and grain leather giving the Swoosh an understated upgrade. Both the black and blue iterations seen above sport speckles on the off-white midsoles, complementing the splatter details on the heel panel. White laces complete the shoe, reinforcing the retro aesthetic initiated by the waffle outsole.
Expect the collaboration to begin rolling out on June 7 via Nike’s site and stockists.
