UNDERCOVER x Nike SS19 Yields Technical Garments and Elevated Daybreak Sneakers
The duo’s first mainline collaboration.

UNDERCOVER and Nike are no strangers to collaboration, having introduced seasonal GYAKUSOU capsules since October 2010. For Spring/Summer 2019, the pair have introduced their first-ever mainline collaboration, uniting UNDERCOVER’s design principles with Nike’s functional know-how for a sleek capsule of activewear.
The capsule is informed by designer Jun Takahashi’s refusal to parlay with “static volume and utility norms.” This means that each of the four garments offered in the capsule boasts customizable fits and subtle technical detailing. To whit, the T-shirt’s arm holes can be tightened, while the long-sleeved shirts width can be modified as desired. Mesh pockets and paneling appears throughout the collection, adding visual interest along with genuine benefit — for instance, the hooded top’s rear zippered pockets bolster the kangaroo pocket on the front for extra storage. Finally, each piece is emblazoned with tonal rubber text that ranges from UNDERCOVER’s familiar “BALANCE/CHAOS” verbiage to an abbreviated “B” or “C.”
Alongside the useful garments, the capsule will release alongside seven colorways of the collaborative Daybreak running sneaker. First seen in UNDERCOVER’s Spring/Summer 2019 presentation, the shoes are offered in a variety of makeups, from yellow/grey to an all-black iteration contrasted by white Swoosh and midsole. Regardless of style, the shoes all boast nylon uppers, suede mudguards and dramatically-altered rear panels for a distinctive silhouette.
The collection begins rolling out on June 7 via outlets like Nike’s website, with a pre-sale planned on UNDERCOVER’s website in the coming weeks.
Most recently, Nike and UNDERCOVER linked up for the hefty SFB Mountain sneaker/boot hybrid shoe.
