Opening Ceremony & Columbia Gear up for a Retro-Inspired Spring 2019 Capsule
Featuring the first footwear collaboration from two labels.

The last collaboration from Opening Ceremony was with Polo Ralph Lauren, tweaking Polo’s iconic Bear motif over a slew of seasonal collegiate-style garments. This time around, Opening Ceremony has tapped outdoors label Columbia, pulling retro designs from its 80-year archive for a collaborative Spring 2019 collection.
Made unisex, the collection features 8 high-tech garments, colored in bright iridescent fabrics, bubblegum highlights and leopard patterns. Silhouettes include a range of lightweight parkas, packable anoraks, shorts, pants, and sun-shielding hats. The assemblage also includes the first collaborative footwear piece between the two brands: the classic Newton Ridge Waterproof Hiking Boot, updated with brightened fluorescent panels. The trail shoe features waterproof leather and a mesh upper for optimal ventilation. Co-branding is found woven at the top of the tongue on each side of the shoes, complemented by multi-colored laces. Other details include rubber Omni-GripTM traction technology, sealed seams and an accented heel.
Another standout piece is the Opening Ceremony x Columbia Sawtooth Parka, accompanied with its matching shorts. The parka is painted in gradients of blue, white and pink, while functional parts like a stowaway hood, packable pockets, mesh cape vents are added. Both the parka and the shorts are constructed with lightweight, water-resistant fabric that makes them easy to pack. Other pieces like the Grand Cache II Anorak, the leopard-spotted Winema Long-Sleeve Polo and hiking hats round out the concise range.
The Opening Ceremony x Columbia Spring 2019 Capsule will be made available on May 9 at Opening Ceremony’s website, four of its physical locations and at Columbia’s flagship in Portland as well as its branded store in Chicago.
