Lil Nas X Performs Acoustic Version of "Old Town Road" on John Mayer's Talk Show 'Current Mood'
The singer-songwriter even praised the song’s flawless execution.
Lil Nas X was the special guest on the latest episode of John Mayer’s Instagram Live talk show Current Mood, performing an acoustic rendition of his viral hit “Old Town Road.”
Accompanied by two guitars and a cajón, the Atlanta rapper lent his vocals for Billy Ray Cyrus’ part of the remix. Mayer commended Nas X and the track’s arrangement, saying, “They say a great song is evidence by being able to play it on just a guitar. That proves the song is great.”
Prior to the performance, the two entertained the nearly 10,000 viewers with a quick game called “Who Dat?” where they would guess famous personalities from their time. Mayer and Nas X were quizzed on musicians, entertainers and even pop culture references mostly known to people belonging to either the late Gen X or Gen Z groups. After leaving the singer-songwriter’s house, Nas X proceeded to comment on the livestream that he had stolen something from Mayer’s property, prompting him and the crew to erupt in laughter.
