'Detective Pikachu' Trolls Pokémon Fans With 2-Hour-Long Dancing Pikachu Video
Promised by Ryan Reynolds as the “Full Picture” leak.
Ryan Reynolds, voice of Pikachu in Detective Pikachu, trolled Pokémon fans with a Tweet leading to the “Full Picture” of the upcoming movie. Much in the same vein as Goose’s live stream promoting Captain Marvel, this piece of marketing gold takes a more light-hearted approach in building buzz for the film’s release.
In the video, a “R. Reynolds” watermark appears at the upper left corner followed by what appears to be legit opening film credits. The video does a complete 180 when the protagonist turns his head towards the sound of an ’80s synth and drum melody. The next scene zooms in on Pikachu in a retro neon dance studio, and continues to loop Pikachu as he demonstrates some of his most adorable dance moves — this lasts for almost 2 hours.
Not a bad joke, as the video does provide a catchy beat along with entertainment from the electric rodent.
