Natural Disasters Get a Little More Terrifying in 'Crawl'
Produced by Sam Raimi.
Brought to you by the director of The Hills Have Eyes, Mirrors and Piranha 3D, Crawl is the latest film aiming to push the boundaries of the horror genre.
In the first official trailer for Crawl, viewers are witnessing a Category 5 hurricane in Florida, quickly setting up this film as yet another disaster flick. However things take a turn as the story quickly descends into a reptilian nightmare, as we witness the main character (played by Kaya Scodelario) and her father (Barry Pepper) trapped in their flooding house alongside a congregation of alligators.
The film’s official synopsis states:
“When a massive hurricane hits her Florida hometown, Haley (Kaya Scodelario) ignores evacuation orders to search for her missing father (Barry Pepper). Finding him gravely injured in the crawl space of their family home, the two become trapped by quickly encroaching floodwaters. As time runs out to escape the strengthening storm, Haley and her father discover that the rising water level is the least of their fears.”
Directed by Alexandre Aja and produced by Sam Raimi, look for Crawl to hit theaters on July 12.
