Pikachu Encounters Pidgeot, Charizard & More in New 'Detective Pikachu' TV Spot
Showcasing the Pokémon’s caffeine addiction.
Ahead of the movie’s release later this month, a new TV spot for Detective Pikachu has dropped. The new clip begins with Pikachu and Psyduck in a car with Tim and Lucy. Alluding to Psyduck’s signature explosive headaches, the group are forced to listen to “spa music,” so Psyduck’s “head doesn’t explode and kill us all,” before Pikachu is required to give him a foot massage.
Over the course of the trailer, Pikachu is introduced as ”a talking Pikachu with no memories who’s addicted to caffeine.” The character then comes into contact with Pokémon including Pidgeot, Charizard and Mewtwo as he accompanies Tim Goodman on the search for his father through Ryme City.
Detective Pikachu is set to hit theaters on May 10, and stars Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, Suki Waterhouse, Ken Watanabe and Bill Nighy alongside the Ryan Reynolds-voiced Pokémon.
