Beats has joined forces with The Pokémon Company International on the special-edition Pokémon x Beats Pill, a portable Bluetooth speaker built around two fan-favorite Pokémon. Pikachu and Mimikyu share the spotlight across the speaker’s grill and body, pairing a high-voltage color story with a moodier monochrome counterpart.
Both Pokémon appear on the speaker grill, with the front and back of the Pill split between two visual identities. Pikachu supplies the bright, unmistakable yellow, while Mimikyu is rendered in shades of gray, setting up a contrast between bold energy and quiet mystery. The duo is a fitting match, since Mimikyu is known in the games for disguising itself under a homemade Pikachu costume.
The accessories mark a first for the line. This is the debut of charms on a Beats Pill, and the special edition includes a bespoke set featuring a Poké Ball, the Beats “b” logo and lightning bolts that nod to Pikachu’s signature move set. The packaging gets its own interactive design treatment as well, giving collectors a reason to hold onto the box.
On the audio side, the Pill runs a custom acoustic system tuned for deep bass and sound big enough to fill a room. Plugging in via USB-C unlocks high-resolution lossless playback, and owners of two Pills can link them wirelessly in either Amplify Mode for more volume or Stereo Mode for left and right separation.
The speaker is built to travel, with up to 24 hours of battery life and an IP67 rating against dust and water that makes it safe for the gym, the beach or a backyard. A removable lanyard matched to the colorway and a soft-grip silicone back make it easy to carry, and the included USB-C cable lets the Pill double as a power bank for a compatible phone.
For Beats, the project is less about novelty and more about meeting an already devoted audience where it lives. “Pokémon Trainers are some of the most passionate in the world, and we saw an opportunity to channel that energy into something fun, unexpected, and created especially for fans,” said Beats CMO Chris Thorne in the announcement. The result treats a familiar speaker as a canvas for fandom, with every design choice tied back to the two characters on its face.
The special-edition Pokémon x Beats Pill launches October 15 via Apple and Target (online and select stores) in the US, via Apple and Argos (online and select stores) in the UK, and via Apple and Douyin in China.
