Carine Roitfeld, the editor-in-chief of CR Fashion Book and global fashion director of Harper’s Bazaar, is a fashion industry icon, having worked with creatives as diverse as Azzedine Alaïa and Kanye West. Indeed, to celebrate the global launch of Roitfeld’s perfume line, the 2019 CFDA Founder’s Award honoree is linking with West’s YEEZY line to offer 200 lucky fans an exclusive signed T-shirt.
100 lime and 100 purple shirts from YEEZY Season 7 will be on hand, for a grand total of 200 collectible layering pieces. Each YEEZY shirt sports a blurred “WWW.CARINEROITFELD.COM ORDER ONLINE” print on the rear as a nod to the digital launch of Roitfeld’s scents, while the front of each shirt is blank. This both emphasizes Roitfeld’s signature and keeps in line with West’s vision of versatile, effortless layering pieces.
Roitfeld will be on hand for the first day’s signings, as well as an industry panel and invite-only Mother’s Day brunch later in the week. West won’t be at the store, despite his close friendship with the street style icon. “Kanye’s a friend and I love the quality of his work,” Roitfeld told us. “We share a fearless quality and I know he’ll be my good luck charm.” Though Roitfeld’s personal style doesn’t always align with YEEZY streetwear inclinations, she does appreciate West’s ingenuity. “Streetwear is a reality of the fashion world [right now,] it’s a movement that I love witnessing.”
Check out the rear of the exclusive purple shirts below. Head to Roitfeld’s pop-up in New York City on May 5 for a chance at the T-shirt giveaway. After the all T-shirts are signed and gone, Roitfeld’s pop-up will remain in place for the rest of the week leading up to Mother’s Day.
Elsewhere, West is reportedly preparing to launch the YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 “Glow-in-the-Dark” this month.
