Apple Unveils Updated iPod Touch With Group FaceTime & AR Experiences
Coming in six color options.

After rumors that iPod Touch was being revamped for 2019, Apple has now officially unveiled the updated model. The new iPod Touch comes with enhanced power, capability and communication, with the Apple-designed A10 Fusion chip allowing improvement for gaming, immersive augmented reality and Group FaceTime.
The new AR features will be used across gaming, education and web browsing. These experiences will see shared AR, persistent AR — which is tied to a specific location — and image detection, which will allow the upgraded iPod Touch to bring 3D objects to life. Elsewhere, the new iPod Touch has three times faster graphics than previous models meaning that games run even smoother.
Speaking about the design — described as “the most affordable iOS device — Apple’s vice president of Product Marketing Greg Joswiak explained that the company had made it “even better with performance that is twice as fast as before, Group FaceTime and augmented reality. The ultra-thin and lightweight design of the iPod Touch has always made it ideal for enjoying games, music and so much more wherever you go.”
The new iPod Touch is available now from the Apple web store, app and physical locations. It comes in three sizes, with a 32GB model (priced at $199 USD), an 128GB model ($299 USD) and 256GBP ($399 USD). The updated Touch is available in six colorful finishes including white, gold, blue, pink “Space Grey” and “(PRODUCT)RED.”
In other Apple news, the brand’s 2020 iPhones could have fullscreen Touch ID sensors.
