Off-White™ Salutes Legendary DJ Black Coffee With Seasonal Capsule
The longtime friends team up for a special drop.
When designer Virgil Abloh already pledged to design Black Coffee’s African art school, it was a symbol of the tight friendship shared by the Off-White™ designer and iconic South African DJ (real name Nkosinathi Innocent Maphumulo). The duo have played DJ sets together and spent time philosophizing about the value of music as a tool for unification; now, Off-White™ has launched a capsule collection honoring the 43 year-old Black Coffee and his influence upon Abloh’s musical career.
Various staple layers are emblazoned with thematic prints informed by Black Coffee’s African roots; a print of Africa occasionally graces the Off-White™ branding at the chest of a denim jacket, while the rear multicolored “X” logo is informed by the rich yellow and green hues seen on several West African flags.
The classic washed denim trucker jacket joins a monochrome sweater, hoodie, T-shirt and two caps to complete the drop, each sporting the colorful logo and placing circular “OFF” branding front-and-center. Stylized “Off-White™” imagery adds further visual flavor to the goods, letting the bright colors speak for Black Coffee instead of explicit text.

Most recently, Off-White™ issued a special reflective logo capsule for Harrods.
