Ib Kamara and Off-White™ are parting ways, the brand confirmed from Milan, drawing a close to the designer’s time leading the house the late Virgil Abloh built. The split was described as a mutual decision, ending a tenure that traced back to Kamara’s early work alongside Abloh before he was formalized into the role in the Spring of 2022.
The announcement came with a statement from Joey Gabbay, chief executive officer of Bluestar Alliance, the group that took control of Off-White in September 2024. “We are deeply grateful for Ib’s vision, creativity, and the remarkable energy he brought to Off-White throughout his tenure,” Gabbay said via WWD. “Ib’s contributions have been instrumental in shaping and evolving the brand, and we sincerely thank him for his dedication and lasting impact.”
Before he ever held a title at the house, Kamara belonged to Abloh’s inner circle, and he carried that closeness into the work once he took charge. His tenure produced several high-visibility moments; Kamara debuted Off-White™‘s first New York fashion show in September 2024, staging it on the community basketball courts of Brooklyn Bridge Park in front of a crowd that included Flavor Flav, Camila Cabello, Leon Bridges, Suni Lee, Lena Waithe, Issa Rae, Paris Jackson, Zayn Malik, Victoria Monét and Mary J. Blige. More recently, the brand rolled out L/AB c/o Off-White, a younger and more affordable line that revisited Abloh’s Off-White For All idea with a cast of musicians, models and creators.
Kamara has also been building beyond the house. In June 2025 he launched Raw Materials by Ib Kamara, a 360 creative agency, extending his work past the brand he has anchored for the past few years.
Off-White™ has not named a successor, and neither the brand nor Kamara has detailed what the change means for its upcoming collections.
