Nike and TEDxPortland Dropped a Collaborative Air Trainer 1
The first TEDx & Nike collaboration available to the public.

Each year, Nike and TEDxPortland unite for a collaborative sneaker, usually only available to the speakers, performers and volunteers. However, 2019 saw the duo switching things up, making this year’s silhouette available to the public for the first time.
The partners selected the Air Trainer 1 as their silhouette of choice this year, revamping the Mid iteration with thematic hues and details. Monochrome panels inform the upper, with grey suede at the midfoot, white leather across the heel, toe and medial side and black leather informing the rear panel and forefoot strap.
Elsewhere, a red Swoosh pops against the muted detailing, with bold “SPREAD IDEAS” embroidery across the ankle on both sides of each sneaker. Red “Nike Air” branding gives the rear extra visual appeal. Above, the TEDx motif continues via a dot graphic on the heel that matches the image utilized as the backdrop for each talk. Finally, the Air Trainer 1’s insoles are printed with TEDx-themed verbiage.
TEDxPortland launched the limited models on April 27 at the Keller Auditorium where the talks were held. Proceeds benefitted attendee ticket scholarships for 2020’s event, which will be the 10th year of TEDxPortland. View the sneaker and on-feet below.
Elsewhere, Nike launched “City Pride” silhouettes for Chicago and Toronto.
