Dave Bautista Meets His Match in 'My Spy'
The wrestler-turned-comedy star.
Former mixed martial artist and bodybuilder Dave Bautista is making quite the name for himself in the movie industry in large part due to Marvel’s hit franchise Guardians of the Galaxy and his minor role in Blade Runner: 2049.
Now the WWF alumni comes face-to-face with his ultimate match in this summer’s family comedy, My Spy. In the film Bautista portrays JJ, an elite and lethal CIA operative who gets demoted after a failed operation. Now running surveillance, Bautista has to constantly keep his cool around a super smart 9-year-old girl played by up-and-coming Chloe Coleman. Check out the official synopsis below:
“MY SPY follows JJ a hardened CIA operative (Dave Bautista) who has been demoted and finds himself at the mercy of a precocious 9-year-old girl, named Sophie (Chloe Coleman) where he has been sent undercover begrudgingly to surveil her family. When Sophie discovers hidden cameras in her apartment she uses her tech savviness to locate where the surveillance operation is set. In exchange for not blowing JJ’s cover Sophie convinces him to spend time with her and teach her to be a spy. Despite his reluctance JJ finds he is no match for Sophie’s disarming charm and wit.”
Directed by Peter Segal, My Spy also stars Ken Jeong and Kristen Schaal and lands in theaters later this year.
