Louis Vuitton Drops Virgil Abloh's Pre-Fall 2019 Sneakers and Bags
Inspired by Tokyo’s service industry workers.
Part of the Jamiroquai-inspired Pre-Fall 2019 collection, key Virgil Abloh-designed Louis Vuitton goods are set to hit Japan in the coming month. Encompassing a duo of sneakers and trio of bags, the items take cues from Tokyo’s service industry and sportswear uniforms.
Utilizing a silhouette similar to the basketball-inspired LV 408, the Pre-Fall collection sneakers offer a more muted colorway, with light beige leather uppers balanced atop a thick white midsole. Orange outsole accents and gold Louis Vuitton script branding offer the only interruptions to the minimalist designs. The high top sneaker sports an additional ankle strap for snug fit, and an oversized tongue with stylized LV logo.
From left to right in the corresponding image, the Chalk Sling Bag, Flat Vertical Tote and Flat Messenger have all received seasonal makeovers, encompassing tonal grey and classic brown leather monogram bodies. Sturdy resin chains give the Flat Messenger a street edge, with each bag offering metal hardware and unmissable graphic accents that recall suitcases studded with travel stickers. These include futuristic “VUITTON” text on a yellow or red “sticker,” a branded Earth patch, crossed hammers and one panel that reads “LIBERTY” and “LET FREEDOM RING.”
Expect the full collection to receive a national Japanese release on May 3, after it receives an early launch at Louis Vuitton Shinjuku and Hankyu Men’s Tokyo on April 26. The low-top sneakers retail for ¥128,000 JPY (approximately $1,150 USD) and the high tops weigh in at ¥166,000 USD (approximately $1,500 USD). Meanwhile, the Chalk Sling Bag, Flat Vertical Tote and Flat Messenger boast prices of ¥225,000 JPY, ¥270,000 JPY and ¥225,000 JPY, respectively (approximately $2,025 USD, $2,430 USD and $2,025 USD).
