On Thursday morning, new details surrounding James Bond 25 were officially revealed during a live-stream presentation held in Jamaica, where the bulk of the novels were written by Ian Fleming.

During the special announcement producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson alongside director Cary Joji Fukanaga officially revealed the cast, which will include Daniel Craig in his fifth and final Bond outing. Academy Award winning actor Rami Malek was also confirmed as the film’s chief villain, while Ralph Fiennes (Gareth Mallory), Naomie Harris (Miss Moneypenny), Ben Whishaw (Q), and Lea Seydoux (Dr. Madelaine Swann) are among the film’s returning stars. Newcomers include Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049), Billy Magnussen (Game Night), Dali Benssalah, Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel) and David Dencik (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy). On the other-hand, Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge was also confirmed to have joined the writing team.

Although the movie’s title was unfortunately not revealed during the event, still being referred to as James Bond 25, plot details were shared. The film will see Bond, who has been enjoying life in Jamaica after leaving the service, joining a rescue mission to save a kidnapped scientist after his friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. Bond will then need to face numerous villains armed with dangerous technology to succeed.

Bond 25 will mark the first film of the franchise to be shot in IMAX; shooting in Jamaica and Norway have already taken place, while production is still set for London and Italy. True Detective‘s Cary Joji Fukunaga will replace Danny Boyle, who exited the project last year. Look for the still untitled James Bond 25 film to arrive in theaters April 8, 2020.
