Designed by Gabrielle Serrano for the On Air collection to represent New York City, the Nike Air Max 98 “La Mezcla” is now finally set to release.

The shoe was designed by Serrano to embody the diversity in NYC. A melting pot of races, ethnicities, and cultures, Serrano wished to highlight the key component that makes the Big Apple what it is today: its population. Reflecting this sentiment is the shoe’s gradient upper, comprised of different skin tones. Dashes of mint green found on the Swooshes, the tongue logo and the laces on one side is a tribute to the Statue of Liberty, complemented by a grey cracked leather mudguard — a reference to New York City’s urban streets.

The Nike Air Max 98 “La Mezcla” will release globally sometime in April at select retailers for $200 USD.

In other sneaker news, photographer Jacobus Rentmeester was just turned down by the Supreme Court for his appeal against his copyright claim for the Jordan “Jumpman” logo against Nike.
