Chanel Introduces New J12 Watches With Kenissi Movement
Priced at $5,700 USD.
A bevy of watches are being introduced now for Baselworld 2019, and one contender arrives from fashion label Chanel — its new J12.
Touted by the company as “the iconic Chanel watch with an identity that has withstood the test of time,” the 38mm luxury timepiece features the company’s Caliber 12.1 automatic movement by Kenissi, a Geneva-based manufacturer of which Chanel has a 20% stake. According to SJX, the incorporated movement is derived from the Tudor’s MT5600 generation of automatic movements and holds a 70-hour power reserve for seamless use, day in and day out.
Aesthetic-wise, the watch claims inspiration from racing yachts and features ceramic elements that are highly resistant to scratching and marring. The clean dial with windowed date is accented by the watch’s refined bezel — the notches have been increased to 40 all around — resulting in a view of minimalism rather than one with the crowded details of a chronometer.
The J12 will come available in classic black Ref. H5697 and a white ceramic and steel Ref. H5700 edition, for those looking for a bolder option. Both watches are set at $5,700 USD and will release on April 30, 2019 at Chanel boutiques worldwide. Learn more at Chanel’s official J12 portal page.
