LeBron James‘s UNINTERRUPTED and Nike have teamed up again for a second collaborative project: the LeBron 17 “More Than An Athlete.” Using a familiar color scheme that debuted on this fall’s Uninterrupted x Nike Air Force 1 Low, the shoe’s design is geared towards the empowerment of athletes around the world.

Dressed in a rich blue and accented by a stark black, this LeBron 17’s high-cut Battleknit upper features a familiar crown shape around the collar, nodding to LeBron’s “King James” nom de guerre. The most interesting part of the top half arrives via the interchangeable tongue guards. Wearers can choose between a tonal blue or crisp white, but they also have the option to go guard-less, exposing the black synthetic base. Each of these commutable accents features a “More Than An Athlete” text graphic and either further Uninterrupted branding or LeBron’s familiar Nike logo.

Not to be outdone, the midsole is dressed up in a crisp white shade and features an opaque Air Max cushioning unit. This is quite literally a whiteboard, as the shoes come with two custom-branded Sharpies — blue and black — enabling the wearer to write and erase messages of their choice, just like how LeBron is known to scrawl meaningful motifs on his personal pairs. Even the heel clip’s Swoosh gets in on the action with a printed marker-style Swoosh hit instead of its normal textured graphic.

The Nike LeBron 17 “More Than An Athlete” will release via Nike SNKRS on Christmas Day, December 25. The MSRP is set at $200 USD. Of course, LeBron’s Los Angeles Lakers take to the court on Christmas to face off against Kawhi Leonard and the hometown rival Los Angeles Clippers, so it’s likely that this exact model will be on ‘Bron’s feet for the game.

In the meantime, check out our Best Footwear Drops of the week — there’s plenty of heat hitting shelves before the year ends.
