Our first glimpse at a new-gen title came via The Game Awards, showcasing the upcoming PlayStation 5 title Godfall. Developed by Counterplay Games and published through Gearbox, this action-RPG boasts a new reforged loot system and third-person melee combat that results in a wholly new gaming genre: The Looter-Slasher.
According to PlayStation Blog, the title will have a heavy emphasis on gear customization and player-driven skill, as the title encourages offense-oriented, mastery-driven combat that rewards in powerful loot. Godfall was also designed with co-op play at the forefront, meaning the game can be played solo, with a friend, or with two. As such, enemies will have a variety of responses that change behavior and attack patterns based on the size of the player’s teams.
“We’re thrilled at Gearbox to have been chosen by Counterplay Games to bring their creative vision of Godfall to gamers on the PlayStation 5 and PC” said Steve Gibson, President of Gearbox Publishing. “As we continue our mission to entertain the world, Godfall is a perfect fit with Gearbox Publishing. Playing with your friends and gearing up are some of the things we love most.”
Details on Godfall are scarce, however, more information is slated to surface next Spring.
In the meantime, check out the new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake.
