Nike has taken the Air Max 90‘s most influential elements and used them to create a brand-new Air Max 90 Slide. Even though it’s the dead of winter, these slip-on sandals present a bold new take on the classic Tinker Hatfield-designed silhouette — and kick off the AM90’s 30th anniversary celebration a little early.
A trifecta of colorways have been presented: an OG-style “Smoke Grey/Volt,” a stark “Black/White” and a playful “White/Rose.” Although there’s a relatively small space to work with, these slides manage to cram all the Air Max 90’s signature accents together in an appealing fashion. The strap is richly detailed, offering a tongue badge on the top plus embroidered Swooshes and an overlay inspired by the 90’s recognizable mudguard on the lateral/medial sides. Even the plastic-injected window graphic makes an appearance.
Footbeds are made of cushy Phylon foam, and equip a heel badge-style embellishment on the rear half. The piece de resistance, however, is unquestionably the Air Max unit, which keeps its original shape, style, and surrounding textured foam intact. Rubber outsoles with classic tread complete the look.
All three Nike Air Max 90 Slides are available now on the Nike webstore, with a MSRP of $75 USD. You can expect more Air Max 90-related product to roll out over the course of 2020 as well.
Moving from the streets to the basketball court, Concepts recently unveiled its newest collaboration with Kyrie Irving: two colorways of the Kyrie 6, dubbed “Khepri” and “Golden Mummy,” both of which are inspired by Ancient Egypt.
