'Minecraft' Is YouTube's Most-Watched Video Game in 2019
Followed not-so-closely by ‘Fortnite.’
With the year coming to a close, various platforms have looked back at 2019 in review, and YouTube has followed suit with its annual YouTube Rewind video. Noting that its video last year caused a certain degree of controversy among fans, the streaming platform vowed to shift its focus onto what fans did like this year, and among the many different categories are the most-viewed video games of 2019.
In fifth place with 29.6 billion views is the online creation platform Roblox, sitting just slightly under the free-to-play mobile battle royale, Garena Free Fire, clocking in at 29.9 billion views. Third place is take by the now 6-year-old game Grand Theft Auto 5, accruing 36.9 billion views in 2019. Coming in second is the massively popular game from Epic — Fortnite — raking in 60.9 billion views, but no game is nearly as impressive as the world builder Minecraft, which earned first place in 2019’s most-viewed video game with a whopping 100.2 billion views.
