The Chevrolet Suburban Is the First Car to Get a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star
Appearing in more than 1,750 films and television series.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame is awarding its first star ever to a car, and it’s to none other than one of cinema’s most iconic SUVs: the Chevrolet Suburban.
Thanks to its robust aesthetic and tinted windows, the Chevy Suburban has played parts from presidential carrier to law enforcement vehicle to even a getaway method for bank thieves and serious villains. Over the eight-and-a-half decades since the SUV was introduced, it starred in more than 1,750 films and television series, being featured in at least one television series each year since 1956 and at least one movie each year since 1960. To celebrate such a massive achievement, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has awarded the car with its very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, alongside a nod to another newer Chevrolet model: the Tahoe.
“When a convoy of black Suburbans appears on screen, you know that’s not the time to leave your seat to buy popcorn,” said Dennis McCarthy, a veteran Hollywood picture car coordinator.
