Gucci‘s Spring/Summer 2020 presentation delivered controversy and covetable garments in equal measure, with the latter providing slogan-emblazoned layering pieces, baroque prints and plenty of branded accessories and jewelry. HYPEBEAST attended Gucci’s SS20 preview event in Ginza to take a closer look at the new goods, spotlighting some of Alessandro Michele‘s latest menswear and womenswear offerings.
Like the luxury house’s Pre-Fall 2020 range, plenty of lavish suiting and retro-indebted sportswear is on hand, accented by Gucci’s signature green and red stripes and interlocking “GG” logos. An emphasis on chunky earrings and equally clunky chainlink necklaces — often attached to immense sunglasses — reinforces the house’s signature vintage aesthetic, bolstered by wide ties and heeled loafers. Text-laden appliqué accents several jackets, adding visual interest in a similar vein as mismatched BOA-laced running sneakers.
