Eddie Murphy will return to NBC’s Saturday Night Live this weekend, and in this new SNL promo, the alumni makes his homecoming to Studio 8H where he will serve as the show’s host for the first time in 35 years.

The trailer is scored to the tune of “Cuz I Love You” by Lizzo, who is also this week’s musical guest. The visuals utilize a stylized black-and-white slow-motion effect with grainy quality and a star-studded Eddie Murphy stoically making his approach to the stage. It isn’t until the end of the video that the funnyman decides to break his serious facade.

Murphy made a big splash when he joined the cast of the improv comedy show back in the early 1980s, following Not Ready For Primetime Players like Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray who went on to Hollywood.

Check out the promo above, and watch Murphy’s SNL return this Saturday, December 21 EST at 11:30 pm on NBC.
