Kevin Durant's Childhood Friend Created the Enspire x Nike KD 12
Enspire founder Devonte Young and Durant go way back.
Streetwear brand Enspire and Nike have teamed up for a duo of bold takes on Kevin Durant‘s KD 12. Enspire founder Devonte Young and Durant have been close friends since their childhood growing up in Prince George County, MD, so this collaborative effort is a full-circle moment for both parties — and their lifelong kinship is reflected in the product.
Arriving in both black and white, every inch of each Enspire x Nike KD 12 is swathed in red, blue and volt green speckles. This is by design, as it provides a perfect match to the colors of Enspire’s light-hearted logo, present under the translucent outsole and on the attached leather hangtag. Large red felt Swooshes grace each colorway’s lateral side, while the medial side takes on a smaller blue Swoosh and the accenting trifecta is completed by volt stitching/colorful KD hits on the heel.
Although the shoe’s visible accents are entirely light-hearted, insoles takes a more serious tone with a lengthy block of text that outlines Enspire’s vision and mission statement. If you pull up this insole, you’ll also see the KD 12’s most noticeable piece of tech: a strobel-less midsole with a full-foot Zoom Air bag. This ensures that although the design may be playful, the performance is anything but. Combined with a supportive drop-in midsole and the upper’s flexible Flywire, this Enspire KD 12 is ready for any and all on-court battles, just as much as it is for casual wear.
The black colorway of the Enspire x Nike KD 12 is slated for a January 18 release, while the white will arrive two weeks later on February 1. Both will release via the Enspire webstore.
