Sneakersnstuff Celebrates 21 Years in Stockholm With adidas Stadt "Södermalm"
Paying homage to the neighborhood that SNS opened its first shop in.
It’s been almost 21 years since Sneakersnstuff opened the doors of its first store in Stockholm’s Södermalm neighborhood, so the Swedish-gone-global footwear retailer is paying homage to its roots with a brand-new “Södermalm” iteration of adidas Originals‘ Stadt. Combining a colorway that represents the area with a classic construction, the slim sneaker is a stately homage to home.
The sleek upper is constructed of a shaggy kelly green suede, and then accented by white leather detailing on the midfoot’s Three Stripes graphic and the heel. A gold badge appears on the green leather tongue, and a gold foil “Södermalm” hit is stamped directly on the lateral midfoot. The insole presents a printed green and white map of Stockholm, matching the tissue paper in the special shoebox. For a final touch, a gum outsole completes the stylings.
Sneakersnstuff co-founders Erik Fagerlind and Peter Jansson have long been open about their adoration for the Södermalm district, stating that whenever a SNS retail outpost opens in another city — an impressive Rolodex consisting of New York City, Los Angeles, London, Paris and the recently announced Tokyo location — they ask themselves where that city’s version of Södermalm is.
Showing appreciation to supporters of the first shop, the Stadt “Södermalm” will release exclusively at SNS Stockholm on November 22, a day before it rolls out to other locations and sneakersnstuff.com on November 22. The MSRP is set at $110 USD.
Elsewhere in the world of adidas, Kanye West‘s new YEEZY 500 “Stone” is set to hit retailers on November 23.
