Rosalía Channels Frida Kahlo in Visual for Gritty New Single “A Palé”
The new flamenco phenom is back.
Rosalía has had a stunning year — she’s collaborated alongside James Blake, J Balvin, Ozuna, and many more atop of performing at the 2019 VMAs and headlining Red Bull Music Festival. Now the new flamenco phenom has released a brand new single entitled “A Palé,” releasing a Jora Frantzis-directed visual to back up the effort.
Produced by El Guincho and Frank Dukes — the former of which helped in co-producing her sophomore album El Mal Querer as well as “Con Altura” alongside J Balvin — “A Palé” sees the urbano music artist honing in on grittier sensibilities, whereby the tranquil intro is rapidly contrasted by a more pounding hip-hop backdrop. Within the video the singer-songwriter channels her inner Frida Kahlo — a bold unibrow marks her while glistening gold jewelry douses her hands — all the while being flanked by a posse of dancers wearing stylish workwear, chemical masks, and gloves inside of an industrial park.
