Nike Officially Announces Return of the Air Max Plus 3
A turn-of-the-century classic is back for the first time ever.
Nike‘s Air Max Plus 3 was a key Nike Sportswear offering around the turn of the century; now, it’s set to make a full return for the first time ever. Packing cutting-edge tech into a sleek package, the Plus 3 — also known as the Tn3 — boasts an especially rich history in London, as it held an esteemed place in both the city’s lively club scene and the gritty beginnings of grime culture.

Beloved for its versatile style that works equally well with luxury Italian sportswear as with classic terrace-style tracksuits, the Plus 3 was a status symbol itself due to the high price point. Of course, the design is far from all sizzle and no steak. The streamlined upper cuts a bold shape with its multitude of jet-black plastic overlays and high-rising plastic heel clip, while the lower half expounds upon the cushioning ideas put forth on the original Air Max Plus by way of articulated hemisphere Air Max units in the heel and forefoot. Signature yellow TN badges are dispersed through the upper and the midsole for extra visual impact. Combined, these pieces yielded an impactful silhouette that was ideal for the futuristic new millennium — and still looks somewhat alien almost two decades after it originally debuted.

The Nike Air Max Plus 3 will release on Nike.com in an OG “Hyper Blue” colorway on November 8. “Hyper Violet” and “Wolf Grey” makeups will follow on November 30. All three will be available in both men’s and kids sizes. The MSRP for kid’s sizes is set at $170 USD, while the price for men’s sizes has yet to be announced.
