Japanese Rap Crew BAD HOP Drop off Trap-Heavy 'Lift Off' EP
Tapping production from Murda Beatz, Metro Boomin, Wheezy, Turbo, Mike WiLL Made-It, & Mustard.
Hailing from Kawasaki, fast-rising eight-man rap collective BAD HOP — made up of T-PABLOW, YZERR, Tiji Jojo, Benjazzy, Yellow Pato, G-k.i.d, Vingo, and Bark — have found a range of success by channeling introspective topics surrounding their families to talking about classism and poverty in their hometown, infusing it with a contemporary trap twist. Recently the group traveled to LA and collaborated with an array of hip-hop’s hottest hitmakers, tapping the likes of Murda Beatz, Metro Boomin, Wheezy, Turbo, Mike WiLL Made-It, and Mustard to create the Lift Off EP, a collection of six tracks that aptly blend East and West.
Throughout the EP, the crew manages to bring forth today’s titular hip-hop sound — the instrumentals are as trap heavy as what’s frequently offered up in the West, while the eight-man trio manages to spit hot-laced bars that validate their place as one of Japan’s hottest. On top of the EP’s release, the crew has released a video for their standout Wheezy and Turbo-produced “Foreign,” which sees YZERR and Tiji Jojo performing their verses in picturesque bamboo forests.
